The quiet solitude of a dark room,
Lit only by the computer screen,
Casting strange shadows on the walls,
Fills me with calm.
A brush of sensation crosses my periphery.
Inexplicably reminded of someone I know,
I reach out with my hand blindly,
Turning my head to say, “Hey.”
My hand stills in the air.
No one stands near.
Only the eerie feeling
Of an invisible guest.
